About Us

Meet Our Radiologists

Veterinary Radiology Ireland is operated by two ECVDI-boarded veterinary radiologists with extensive specialist experience across small animal and equine imaging.


Conor is a European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI) boarded specialist with over a decade of experience in veterinary radiology. He has worked across Ireland, Austria, and the United Kingdom.

Currently based in Cambridge, Conor divides his time between clinical work at the university, a private referral practice, and providing teleradiology services to general practitioners. He is a regular presence on the conference circuit — both as a speaker and as a committed learner — and believes that continuing education is central to delivering excellent diagnostic care.

Emma is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI), having achieved board certification in 2004 following a residency in Diagnostic Imaging at University College Dublin — where she also completed a Masters in Veterinary Medicine.

Emma graduated from UCD in 1996 and, after an internship in small animal medicine and time in general practice in the greater Dublin area, returned to UCD to pursue specialist training. She has been a clinical radiologist at the UCD Veterinary Hospital ever since, combining her hospital role with referral ultrasound work across Cork and Dublin.

Her specialist interests centre on ultrasound — particularly abdominal ultrasound for cancer staging, musculoskeletal ultrasound in dogs, and echocardiography in small animals. Emma is also a committed educator, with a longstanding involvement in teaching radiography, radiology, and ultrasound to veterinary students and colleagues alike.

Service Hours & Invoicing

Operating Hours

Veterinary Radiology Ireland operates Monday to Friday, during standard working hours. We aim to contact referring vets the same day, though complex cases or high volumes may carry to the next working day.

Invoicing

Each radiologist manages their own invoicing independently. Fee structures and payment terms will be communicated directly by Emma or Conor following your first case submission.

What is the ECVDI® Title?

The Gold Standard in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging

When you request an interpretation from Veterinary Radiology Ireland, you are working directly with Diplomates of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (DipECVDI®) — the highest recognised qualification in veterinary radiology in Europe.

A rigorous path to specialisation

Becoming an ECVDI® Diplomate is not a short process. After completing a veterinary degree, candidates must undertake a minimum of 4–5 years of post-graduate specialist training, typically structured as follows:

A rotating internship of 12–18 months provides broad clinical exposure across multiple disciplines under the supervision of recognised specialists. This is followed by a formal radiology residency of 3–4 years, during which the candidate interprets a minimum required volume of diagnostic studies, conducts and publishes original research, and trains under the direct supervision of a qualified Diplomate. The process concludes with both a written and a practical examination set by the European College.

Certification is awarded and overseen by the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS®), which sets and maintains the standards for all recognised veterinary specialist colleges across Europe.

EBVS® recognised vs. "specialist"

An EBVS® recognised title such as DipECVDI® is different: it requires completion of a standardised, internationally recognised training programme, rigorous examination, and ongoing continuing professional development to maintain certification. ECVDI® Diplomates are recognised worldwide.
